A political support group, PBAT-KOH 2027, has declared its backing for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, while also endorsing Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as its preferred candidate for the Lagos State governorship race.
In a statement released to the public, the group said its decision was driven by what it described as the need for continuity, competence, and sustained development at both the federal and state levels. The group positioned Hamzat as a seasoned administrator with a deep understanding of governance, citing his experience as a former commissioner and current deputy governor.
According to the group, Hamzat’s track record in public service and his role in shaping policies within Lagos State place him in a strong position to succeed Babajide Sanwo-Olu. It argued that his experience in infrastructure development and governance makes him “ready to lead” Africa’s largest city.
The group also threw its weight behind President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing his first tenure as one marked by “bold and transformative reforms.” It referenced key policy decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market as indicators of the administration’s commitment to restructuring the nation’s economy.
While acknowledging that some of these reforms have come with economic challenges, the group maintained that a second term would allow the government to consolidate ongoing policies and deliver long-term benefits. It warned against what it termed a disruption of progress at a critical stage in Nigeria’s development.
The statement further highlighted what it called the “Tinubu–Hamzat continuum,” describing it as a sustained model of leadership that has contributed to Lagos State’s growth over the years. The group linked this trajectory to the broader governance framework of the All Progressives Congress, noting that continuity in leadership would help preserve policy direction and development gains.
Calling for grassroots mobilization, the PBAT-KOH 2027 Support Group urged Nigerians across regions and social classes to support both Tinubu’s re-election bid and Hamzat’s governorship ambition. It encouraged citizens to engage in community-level advocacy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group concluded by expressing confidence that aligning leadership at both federal and state levels would strengthen governance outcomes and drive national and subnational development.
