Ikorodu Constituency I: Party Stakeholders and Members Rally Behind Bolowotan’s Assembly Bid

Ikorodu I: Bolowotan Declares, Expresses Full Readiness for APC Direct Primaries

Honourable Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan has officially declared his intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Ikorodu Constituency I under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressing full readiness to participate in the party’s direct primary process.

Speaking during his declaration, Bolowotan emphasized that his aspiration is rooted in a clear and people-focused vision to build “A Greater Ikorodu,” driven by impactful legislation, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development. He stated that the legislative office must serve as a vehicle for real change, noting that representation should go beyond lawmaking to include effective oversight and accountability in governance.

“I stand before you with a firm sense of duty to represent the people of Ikorodu Constituency I. My goal is to ensure that governance is not abstract but a living instrument that delivers real progress to our people,” he said.

The aspirant formally sought the support, endorsement, and adoption of the APC, expressing confidence in his ability to build on existing leadership structures while charting a progressive path for the constituency.

Bolowotan also acknowledged prominent political leaders for their roles in shaping governance in Ikorodu and Lagos State, including former Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Baba Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, and Honourable Babajimi Benson, commending their leadership and mentorship.

He further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for strengthening internal party democracy through the introduction of direct primaries, describing it as a reform that empowers party members and broadens participation. According to him, the system ensures that every member has a voice in the emergence of candidates, making the process more inclusive and transparent.

Reaffirming his preparedness, Bolowotan noted that he is fully ready to engage the grassroots and participate actively in the direct primary process. He concluded by calling on party members and constituents to support his aspiration, expressing optimism about a collective path toward transformational leadership in Ikorodu.
